The Perms

The Perms are a Canadian powerpop band, formed in 1998 and based out of Winnipeg, Manitoba. The Perms consist of vocalist bassist Shane Smith, vocalist guitarist Chad Smith and drummer John Huver.

They first gained popularity in Brandon, Manitoba when the band released their first album "Tight Perm" in 1998 after bassist Shane Smith came into some legal money after suing the Brandon School Division.

The band are well known for their energetic live shows, catchy songwriting and their interesting sense of humor.

The Perms music has been featured all across the world including Canadian and American music stations and satellite radio. The Perms have charted on numerous college and university stations in the USA and Canada.

The Perms have toured extensively across Canada, Europe and the USA, showcased at CMW, NXNE, See Me Festival in Sofia, Bulgaria.

On December 16 2009 the band filmed what would be their most popular video "Running Away". Starring an Eastern European gigolo named Dmitri and a cast of Winnipeg notables the video and the single have been very successful

The group was nominated for Album of the year on XM Satellite Radio Station The Verve for the album Keeps you up when your down.

In October 2011 their latest album "Sofia Nights" was released in Canada. The first single "High School High" was released in September 2011. The entire record was recorded and mixed by Myke Kurrnel at Vambo Sound Productions and mastered by Roger Siebel at SAE in Phoenix, AZ.
